Costas Grammenos
Costas Th Grammenos joined Cass Business School, City, University of London in 1982 and has been Professor of Shipping, Trade and Finance since 1983. At the same School he established in 1984 the Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance, which, in addition to the two world class MSc programmes (MSc Shipping, Trade and Finance; Energy Trade and Finance), carries out and publishes research through members of its staff and students in the areas of Shipping Finance, Maritime Risk Management, Commodity Trade and Finance. In 1999 he was awarded the DSc for creating Shipping Finance as a new academic subject. In 2007, to provide a lasting legacy for his lifetime achievements, the University renamed the Centre the ‘Costas Grammenos Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance’.
In 1994 he was awarded by HM the Queen the OBE for his “valuable contribution to International Shipping and Finance” and in 2008 the CBE for “services to teaching and research”, and in 2013 made ‘Commander of the Order of the Phoenix’ by the Hellenic Republic.
