François Galgani has more than 30 years of research in the fields of Oceanology and  Environmental Sciences with a focus on Ecotoxicology and marine litter, with over 140 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals. F Galgani is Chairman of the EC/ DG Env/ MSFD technical group on marine litter (2010-present, 100 international experts), chairman of the CIESM committee on biogeochemistry (since 2013), member of the UNEP/MEDPOL Cluster group on pollution/litter (ECAP), member of the OSPAR/ICG Marine Litter group for NE Atlantic, Expert for the OSPAR and MEDPOL regional action plan on marine litter. He is member of the UNESCO/GESAMP/ IOC working group WG40 on microplastics (co-chair since 2017) and participant to the UNEA (UN environment), G7 and G20 processes on Marine Litter. F Galgani is also editor in chief for the scientific journal ‘’Marine Pollution Bulletin.
