Hans-Helmut Kotz is a Resident Fellow, Center for European Studies as well as a Visiting Professor of Economics, both at Harvard University. He is also Program Director of the SAFE Policy Center and Senior Fellow of the Center for Financial Studies, both at Goethe University, Frankfurt. Moreover, he is on the economics faculty of Freiburg University. He was a Board Member of Deutsche Bundesbank (2002-2010), in charge of Financial Stability, Markets, and Statistics and a member of a number of committees and working groups of the Bank for International Settlements, the Financial Stability Board as well as the OECD, where he was Chair of the Financial Markets Committee. He was also the Central Bank Deputy for the G7 and the G20 process.

Before that, he was President of the Landeszentralbank in Bremen, Niedersachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt (1999-2002) and Chief Economist at Deutsche Girozentrale. Between 2002 and 2005 he served in a personal capacity as a member of the European Parliament’s Expert Group on Financial Markets. He has published widely (Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Revue d’Economie Financière, Intereconomics etc. as well as numerous edited books).

In addition to his academic positions, he is a senior advisor to McKinsey & Co. and serves on the Supervisory Board of Eurex Clearing AG, Frankfurt/Zurich. He is also a non-executive Member of the Board of Caixa General de Depósitos, Lisbon
