Dr. Spyros Karanikolas is a Supreme Court of Greece appointed lawyer. He holds a Ph.D., entitled:  ‘The impact of EU criminal law on the Greek criminal justice system’, while he has been awarded a full scholarship, after an international competition, by the Law Department of Queen Marry – University of London. Also, he has been awarded a scholarship by the Institut des Hautes Etudes Européennes (IHEE).  He holds an L.L.M in European, Human Rights and English Law from University College London (UCL), and an L.L.B from the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens.

He has worked as the legal advisor to the Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, and to the Minister of Justice. He has been part of a team of legal experts of the European Commission from across the European Union working on various legal reports. Currently, he is the deputy Spokesman of the Socialist Party of Greece (PA.SO.K).
