Stathis Giannakidis was born in Kavala in 1985 and raised in Xanthi.

He was appointed as Deputy Minister of Economy & Development, responsible for Public Investments, European Structural and Investment Funds (PA 2014-2020).

He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament since January of 2015 when he was elected as MP for SYRIZA in Xanthi's electoral region. 

As an MP he has been a member of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, Public Order and Justice, Secretary of the House Finance Committee and the Special Standing Committee of Financial Statement, General Balance Sheet and Implementation of the State Budget.

He has been politically active by early age in SYRIZA Youth, the Hellenic Social Forum and the Economic Chamber of Greece, as well as a candidate in regional elections of 2010 and 2014 in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

He holds a degree in Economics from the Democritus University of Thrace. He worked as an economist in the private sector.

He is married and a father of two kids.
